Not SS, and also not officers

There's no evidence that this cape is SS, let alone HJ officers.

RZM makers label is the nicest part, other then that....plain IMO.

This is a regulation Hitler Youth Rain cape , nothing to do with Officers or the SS . I have seen these for sale without the Rzm tag for as low as 75 dollars and with the Rzm tag for around 500 dollars .. Personally I would not pay more than 250 for one .

Thanks everyone for your input and kind words. I based my description on the following, it is obviously an HJ item, it is obviously made for a large man, the HJ were led by SS officers I thought , not young boys. I have not seen pics of one in general use by regular HJ members.

This site has one for sale for $1100.
If my knowledge is not so vastly extensive as others, then so be it, no apologies there, it is all a learning experience, but nothing was done intentionally to be misleading or rude, so I appreciate the same in return from fellow members. I have sold lots of really nice and solid items on here, all with no complaints. You don't like it, don't buy it. Thanks.

                Offered for sale is a

VERY RARE ORIGINAL RZM AND MAKER MARKED

                H.J. REGENUMHANG

                (HITLER YOUTH RAIN CAPE)

                IN UNUSED MINT CONDITION!

Offered here is a very unique HJ uniform accessory! It is an H.J. Rain Cape, in beautiful, unissued condition, with original RZM cloth label, as well as 2 paper labels still attached! Vet bought, so it's in un-messed with, all-original condition. All buttons are present, in perfect condition, and even the buttons are RZM marked, and numbered. This cape is one of the most well designed, well-constructed, most detailed garments that I have ever seen. We try to highlight all the key points: First, it's made from a very neat, tight weave, cotton cloth, backed on the inside with a rubberized backside. It has 2 large slits on the front side -- when buttoned up, provides maximum weather shielding; when unbuttoned, allows arm access. Has a neck strap, hidden underneath the collar. Also has an interior cape support-strap that buttons around the wearer's neck. On the backside of the cape, hidden underneath the collar, are several buttons which, when unbuttoned, apparently allow for the cape's back area to expand (so that the wearer could wear a pack underneath?). Also, has a row of buttons along the front middle, allowing the wearer to fully button up for maximum rain protection. The buttons are amazing; nice, large sized, well made.

When the cape is fully buttoned up around the wearer, it presents a very clean, neat appearance.

Best of all, has a large size cloth label in the neck. Label is identical to the one pictured in Angolia's Vol 1 The HJ, page 52. The label is black base material, with HJ gold colored lettering. (Cape is also pictured in period wear, on a photo on same page.)

                  Hi,

useful tip : od43 / usmbooks prices need to be divided (at least) by 2 to 5.

To get a better picture, you can use them as reference, and check on Google the books and items they have. Usually you will find some for a far far cheaper price elsewhere (especially for the books).

                  See You

The 12th SS (Hitler Youth) weren't made up of what I'd call little men. The 12th was made up of 17 and 18 year olds with 17 being the minimum age. I do believe by that time they would have physically grown as much as they were going to.

                    Best wishes,
                    Joel

Thanks Vince and Joel for your polite replies and offers of help. HJ stuff is not my forte by any means. I had no idea their rank and file wore capes and previously had thought that was pretty much an officers garment.
My intent was to sell an item I believed was as described, as I always have.
The mods have my permission to remove the E-stand thread if they like.
I am glad I checked the thread and see that it was 1.5 months ago when this one was started critiquing it. If someone had of just shot me a polite note on it then I would have taken it down . I respect the knowledge of many of the members here and always welcome the input, good or bad I can take it just fine.
                      Thanks, Michael

For what its worth, I certainly don't think your intentions were to mislead, if, in fact, you even did. No one can be sure if it was worn by an SS officer or not.

                        Regards,
                        Joel

                          Thanks Joel.
So can anyone confirm that your average HJ member had/wore capes? They still seam to me to be an officer thing, but that is an unfounded opinion. Thanks

From what i remember the cape was an issued item for rank and file.
