Both are not very good. The second contains fakes.

Get the Michael Beaver books on SS uniforms, headgear and insignia - 6 in totall. The best books - nothing on the same level available.

            Hi,

to be honest foreign volunteer shields are not presented in the Beaver books if i clearly remember.

You can check the website of Rene Chavez (member of the WAF), or The Collector's Guild and some webstores that are stocking some of them.

the "Beaver Bible books" are essential to any SS collector or people interested in the SS history.

I advice you to order them from Amazon.com, a few friends and I did that in the past, you will get the best prices.

            Camouflage uniforms (highly recommended !)

              SS Cloth Books

Mark Bando's cloth book is excellent, but the scope is somewhat limited. He does an excellent job covering the insignia worn by the major combat formations of the Waffen SS. However, the book was never intended to address either the multitude of foreign volunteer insignia or any of the Allgemeine SS insignia including SD and camp guards. Your best bet for those formations is still John Angolia's SS Cloth book and the 7 volume set by Andrew Mollo. Detractors will point out that the Angolia book contains errors (a few, mostly in the eagles section) and that Mollo uses mostly line drawings (true, but very accurate, draftsman quality drawings). However, they are IMHO the best books around around covering allaspects of SS insignia.

Mike Beaver's uniform series shows some Allgemeine and foreign volunteer stuff, but it's focus is not insignia. Ulric's cuff title books are also excellent, but not all inclusive.

Agreed. Best books readily available these days. If something caused them to be lost I would buy them again.
