I have to agree with Rick on this one.

I agree that the ring from both threads is the same ring. There is little doubt for me that it is a copy/fake. There are now many reasons that I feel this way and it is not just about the inside engraving. Based on one comment in the thread this ring was sold by JP circa 2003.

I don't know if the COA is real or a fake nor do I know the actual chain of custody for this ring (true chain of custody for any item is very hard to prove anyway, but easy to claim!!) whomever has owned this ring, sold this ring or stated that it is original is meaningless to me. How anyone who claims to know HRs could look at how the skull/bones are inset, the soft details of the leaves around them particularly and the casting grains....and state this one is real is hard for me to understand.

        Hi,

i'm pretty sure that if a picture of the COA is sent to Don, he will be able to tell if is COA is legit or not.

I would like to see the engraving with the balck paint removed. I know many gun collectors who use paint sticks to make marking look clear, but I have never liked the idea of not seeing the actually footprints of engraving or stamping.

I think the issue will be settled with a Don Boyle review of the certificate and ring.

I woulf lieke to see the entire COA and not just the signature portion. On Don's COA, there is 2 options he initials, either he thinks it original, pre 45 or it is isn't.
When Gottlieb only shows a portion of the COA, that is suspect and only adds fuel that he is being anything but honest. Ron

              Ring

Mr. Ferrari is correct. The ring is a piece of crap, and you can take that to the bank. Otto Gahr's janitor could execute better engraving than this abortion.

Surprisingly someone is offering 8000 $ for a fake ring and Gottlieb's auction house don't stop bidding on it !

i have to be honest, before this whole discussion and the one on GDC, i almost had a bid in as well. The don Boyle certification and the story almost hooked me.

Even had my wife all prepared for it as well, so we wouldnt end up in a marital dispute for spending too much money on this stuff..

I have to be honest, guessed it due to your deep interest in knowing originality

So I'm very happy for my contribution to save your money

Has anyone contacted Craig Gottlieb and Don Boyle for further input?
