    Another black tab for opinions

Here is one more that I am not sure of, although again, I dont see anything wrong with certainty.
I has never had pips applied and there is a touch of "white death" on the stripe, which is stitched on to the reverse.
    Thanks again,

I think the tab has potential ....
Let wait and see what others have to say ...

Well, the tresse is absolutely identical to other known SS tabs I have or have seen. I think that lengthwise, SA tabs usually tend to be longer than this as well, although who knows.

          Tress

A black SA tab would have tress that is white and black, not silver and black.

Well, I made my own study of tab litzen from various scources (including this forum) and the subject litzen checks out original as far I can determine, although there seems to be no definite concensus as what is real and what is not.
It is very similar to known fake litzen however.
It appears that some early fake tabs were made with left over original litzen which makes the situation more difficult. Perhaps that is why some types have been judged fake by the company they keep.
The example I posted has some corrosion and is is stitched on the ends in back instead of just glued, which is usually a good sign.

Not so, as I had wanted your thoughts on the tab as a whole. Your opinion on the litzen is well taken and I followed up with my own investigation on that aspect.
Does it mean that I am right? No.
Your own comments on the litzen are tentative...what about the rest of the tab?

I find accurate 'tentative' is far better than B.S. 'fact'.

If it was me ... and fortunately these days it isn't ... I would pass and wait for a solid 100% textbook one. I find the litzen questionable and the tab itself small ... could be for a shirt ... could be a screwed up fake. I can't think of a silver-piped rank tab with no pips and 1 litzen bar .....

Good point regarding the lack of pips applied as I too have never seen such a thing.
I think this tab is one for the "just not sure" pile as I cannot condemn it with certainty.

For what it is worth, here is a comparison of litzen on a fake tab that appears nearly the same as the one on the tab I posted,
The fake tab is on the left, and as can be seen, the lizen is ever so slightly narrower overall with a center black line that also is narrower. It also has a tighter and newer looking weave, in comparison with the tab in question on the right, which has, as I mentioned, some white corrosion and light toning.
Additionally, the fake tab litzen has different core thread which is poly or nylon and melts on burning.
The tab on the right has an off white, almost khaki color core thread. I was able to get a very tiny hair of it and although I could not be sure because of the amount, did not seem to melt.
