      to me anyway the eyes on fakes always look like a burglars mask,silly i know, but the shape of fakes skulls are to gaunt,its a one look bad un . hope ive tried to help

        ,,the pebbleing is pointy compared to the rounded pebbles on the original.
        although it is a scary good fake

          Basically, these buttons are coins, as these buttons were die struck just like most other TR German metal insignia and so they have many die flaws and die characteristics that can be found which are very similar to those found on coins.

          Anyway, the pebbling, (as was mentioned), is probably the biggest issue on these. I was lucky to have a friend give me one of these "newer" fake buttons as a reference. The most noticeable error, IMO, is the partial, sloppy pebbling on the outer rim of the button as pointed out in this comparison photo. On originals, you will see a smooth rounded edge, also shown here in the photo.
