sorry for my delay in replying. I have been locating where the catalogues have gone to. Cutting a long story short. The collector died some years ago but I have now found out where the paper work from his collecton wound up.

I have contacted where it is residing and I have been invited to come and see it again. Thus I will ask if I can take a photo of the appropriate sections.

What I had forgotten is that this is a factory catalogue complete with an inventory listing of what was actually in stock at the time. The new owner told these are check lists for a Meissen Austrian distributor of what is being held in the warehouse at the time (1938 & 39).

This will involve me having to take a trip to another city to get these images so I can not really add any more until that is done.

Once I get the images then we can see what your interpretation (based on your ongoing experience) of these catalogue and inventory listings are,

    Chris
All I ask is to show that the plate series actually has "SS "in the catalog title...like you suggested because that will be news to me and I believe many others.

I have some Meissen catalogs...they do not always have anything that we, as collectors want to see...and there appear to have been prolific wares with many catalogs.

What is not news(to me) is that Meissen did Nazi images and Volkische images. This can be read in at least one English language book on Meissen.

      Thanks Michael,

yes I understand what you are asking and I will check for the reference to SS is in the catalogue or inventory listing.

However, post numbers 11, 28 & 29 do show surviving examples of SS Kunst by Meissen so such pieces must have been be listed at some stage. I now wonder about any plates they might have made for example for Austrians in 2 SS "Das Reich" as well as examples of specific SS Volkskunst ?

I think you are confusing some rather obvious and rare SS related Meissen pieces as proof that with the plate/plates at very start of thread are also SS.

I have a Meissen piece more ,as you say "Volkskunst" than anything I have ever seen, yet I can not claim it is SS.

Yes I have gained access to them but at this point in time I am not posting images on WAF due to complications on another unrelated issue.

When I am up and posting pictures again, I will see what can be done then,

                    Regards,

                    Chris
