Nice officers boards

Hello all,

I figured I would show one of my latest additions. Sorry for not professional scans, I just bought new scanner.
Nice used condition. There are clear signs behind all pips - its not upgraded rank (here is one - the rest I checked too). They have also wholes after threads, they are removed from tunics. Thanks for looking.

Sometimes is better to catch real cast of colour by standard camera, or I just cant do it by scanner (adjacent objects works better than protrusive in some places). Compared with my other examples they have typical stiff cardboard construction with signs of age. Hope You like them too.

I'm trying to learn more about boards. What's the difference between SS and Heer shoulder boards. From looking back and forth at the threads, it seem that SS have black backing and Heer have colors based on branch. Am I close to being correct?

Hi David,

There is an excellent primer on Army boards here on WA, and I would recommend any of the Angolia book series to get the basics on army and SS board branch piping and cyphers.

In general terms, both SS and army boards have branch piping, but the SS boards have the black underlay added.
