Hi, I am looking to purchase a SS overseas cap in the coming months, have been reading up and researching to find a original and a fair priced one, I found a couple of salty ones on Hannahs Reich, but they seem to have been on the site a long time and wondered why, many thanks to all.

Because of the condition- "Salty" isn't the word and the insignia appear resewn/reattached....unless this was very cheap (and they aren't) most collectors wouldn't bother.... (H.R.'s site is excellent...but also TOP DOLLAR!)
Doesn't have to be mint....but paying more for a better example would be worth the investment.... IMO.

Just a view on how I approach things generally
I always look at an item as a buyer and a seller when something is on offer. Both from a price and a condition perspective.
So I always try to consider how attractive an item would be to a potential buyer in future and whether I will at least be able to break even when I sell it. There is a time for everything in this life.
In the main this works well but sometimes I have to compromise on condition or price to get that elusive piece.
This isn't an easy hobby for sure. I've also been looking for a nice overseas cap for some time but haven't found 'the one' that's for me yet :-(
Persevere and keep looking....it will come in time.
Best Regards to all

A soldier showing up at roll call with insignias in that condition would surely get his ass busted!!!

Of course the price could be a separate matter.
Idem.
