IMO it's a fake eagle, I have 2 of the same, and when I put them up for opinion the experts told me they are fake. The eagle that inxis posted for opinion, then for sale is not original, it's fake.

      Hello Ian,

No it is not academic yet!! Have a moderator post a link on the end of the sales thread so it doesn't go away. Inform the seller and have him inform the buyer if it turns out to be bad.

          Ian,

The link is up on the sales thread. I would drop the seller a courtesy PM to let him know. He should then contact the buyer and let him know.

              Eagle

What are the signs on the eagle that leads indicate that it is fake? I don't collect a lot of SS stuff but just trying to educate myself fir the future.
              Thanks

I was at work ... or possibly living normal, everyday, non-SS militaria life ?

As a seller you have an obligation to do your own searches, the sticky thread of known fakes at the top of this section will no-doubt have this one ... it is made of rayon and would fail the blacklight and burn test anyway.

The materials, the weave, the head, the welt surround where it goes round the wreath and straight up to the inner feathers instead of having an indent either side.

I have to admit that I'm not sure about this one.

Until proved guilty, I'm on the fence.

I have to agree me too .....
Especially as I was one of the first to comment.
Maybe a little to hasty to make a comment.
But now it has been mentioned I can certain see the fuzzy-ness of the materials used.
Therefore I apologise to the member who presented it.
I need to take more care next time
                        Regards
                        David
