As of the spring, I know he was. Had a painting of him at Kursk commissioned by a German painter and he signed the painting and also sent me a letter to go with the painting.

This is Von Ribbentrop at Kursk. He explained to the artist that he drove right into the Russian advance, not realizing it. There was smoke and debris being turned up by tanks, which is why he did not see them at first. He quickly maneuvered his tank and began destroying the Russian tanks and infantry that appeared out of nowhere around him. He was awarded the Knights Cross at Kursk for his efforts.
