                    I am not sure if this necessarily must be a repair...Finish is exactly the same as on the whole eagle and everything looks compact and consistent to me. Why this "dirt" on the base of that prong cannot allready come from production process?

                    It is much easier to accept this theory than believe that anyone who "repair" one prong also refinished the rest...Sounds too strange to me
                    Or...if anyone decided to repair one prong "postwar" with intention to deceive collectors, he surely would make better job. It will be really easy job to most of us to smooth down the base of that prong....before repainting the eagle etc....

                    Sorry, but all possible scenarios sounds not more realistic to me.
