Skull on visor

This cap has been identified as an early Alteste, and I wanted to make sure the skull was also bad before throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I don't own this cap, but it was being offered for the insignia only.

It looks like a Deschler wannabe. I remember when I first saw these, or similar skulls. Many years ago, these would probably fool many people as real, if you didn't see the back sides, because there were no good copies around then.
