    2 SS sleeve eagles

    Hi guys

Would love to ask your opnion regarding these two ss eagles.

I think the first one is an eagle made by the Belgian firm Reitz?

    Thanks!

The top one is (as you correctly say) a fine original Reitz eagle. The other one I believe to be a fake.

    Cheers, Ian.

These so called "Reitz" eagles were most likely produced by a company called "La Nominette" , a factory located in 'Aalst' (Belgium).

Reitz is a misnomer...They produced uniforms only...most likely not woven insignia ...probably also with Nominette made insignia! (locally supplied in Flanders)

It has been stated quite some times the past years. These where made by a firm called 'La Nominette' near Aalst (in Flanders).
At Reitz (Antwerp) no machine woven insignia were produced.
Werner P. can elaborate on this more.

                  Kind regards,
                  Gerd V

OK, I must have missed that..thanks. This includes skulls and other insignia we assumed went by the reitz manufacturing?

Yes, all the machine woven pieces.
I'm only aware of (Flemish made) shoulder boards (SS and Heer) being made at Reitz (Antwerp).

                      Kind regards,
                      Gerd V

SS Skulls were made by a Flemish company called "Indian caps". They did not make SS pattern eagles as far as we know...
This is probably why you often see many Flemish volunteers with ( Belgium made) Heer metal eagles combined with (Belgian made) SS skulls on their visors!
The Flemish made death heads were of course also in demand locally for the Flemish Germanic SS visors with Swastika on top
(their black uniforms like the German Algemeine SS)
These metal insignia were inferior in quality to German produced ones and had flimsy "nail like" prongs soldered on!

                        Beautiful eagles btw!

Interesting thread. I have also been told the Reitz buckles weren't made by Reitz but they were made by another company and worn by Reitz security.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1381964353.313455.jpg

We're those buckles worn by E.Reitz or by Reitz?
In other words the parent German clothing company in Wuppertal or the Antwerp (Merksem) Belgian affiliate?
