I have a chance to buy a ss honor ring, i know its not in the best of shape but the vest daughter brought it in the shop yesterday with info on her dad he was in the 89th infantry Division 3rd Army 358 regiment 2nd battalion story he wront down says he took it off the guys hand along with a belt and watch. Any ehlp i can get would be great , i was going to make a offer on it if its real.

Excessive wear pattern for a 1944 ring. Did the vet wear it all the time ? But engraving is good.

They always say don't buy the story....but I add...keep the story as an aside no matter what.
Off hand, the writing is legit in that it was written by an old-timer
Seeing the handwriting brought back memories of my aged grandparent's handwriting.
If you do get this ring, put the handwritten letter in a mylar cover with acid free backing.
It is cooler and more believable (without further investigation) than most write ups I have seen.
