      There is a reference to cardboard backed BEVO runic tabs on page 108 of the Beaver book on W-SS Insignia & Artifacts, although the reverse of the cardboard type was not shown. Curiously I got an example of one of those from a 2nd Armored vet named Roscoe Lewis of the 48th Armored Medical Bn. about 15 years ago.

        Mark made a good point while I talked with him today of why it is so hard to find the cardboard backed rank tabs. Most were attached with pips and the pips went all the way through the collar which would make it difficult for a GI to remove as a souvenir. I am looking for a bevo rank tab to go with one of my collar tabs if anyone has one.
