    Strange headgear on film

This a section of a German news real where you can clearly see the man in the left wearing a strange looking M43 camo cap. Does anyone know what it's origin is?

Looks like a standard camo cap worn over ear muffs.

Well, I copied it from a newsreel I was watching.

Keep in mind that producers of documentaries use stock footage from "modern day" reenactments to use as filler in documentaries. The guy wearing the glasses looks very odd. He looks like the guy who played the boogeyman in Disney's "Don't Look Under The Bed."

Looking at it I think it's original footage.
When you see the guy looking to his left you can clearly see he's wearing ear protectors together with the standard camo fieldcap. The glasses are the 'Masken-Brille' glasses, no clue why he's wearing these, maybe lost his own normal glasses. See the two cloth strings around his ears.

                  Photo

The thing that I noticed most, is the strange shape of the officer's visor cap. I've seen them with high peaks, but this one just doesn't look like officer's field caps I've seen.

Agreed "earmuffs" + "maskenbrille" under a camo cap.
                    That's all!

I'm convinced this original footage though I agree the M43 camo cap looks very odd.
Could it be a Waffen-SS volunteer unit?

This is the same unit if I'm not wrong: look at 32:50 min.

                          Tape

I am not sure 100%, but I do not believe that adhesive tape for wound dressings had developed as yet. Not seen during ww2, IMO. Perhaps someone knows??

A german invention, patented on november 8 1882.

Hard to tell, it could be any unit that was issued such anoraks. It looks "charkowish" to me.

Anyways, what you show in that link looks all authentic.
                              Cheers
