They all seem to have a hair lip..I guess that is typical for this type .

That crack underneath the nose is the typical Zimmermann feature that Chris was referring to .
Apart from that , the jawbone was made more hollow - a very hard to find version .
The darker colour zinc is also typical of these , although they originally came in silverpaint like the others .
There's no lack of details on one in good condition .. !

Here is one more of mine.

That last picture of Chris shows a THIRD adaption to the die quite well = a distinctive BASE to the back of the head .
Plus the change in jaw on the right side ( more hollow + an added ridge ) - they really seem to have gone for an approved look ..

If you are referring to a complete book on the subject - unfortunately there are none ( yet ) .
Until then , the best way is to find old threads on the forum , this link would be a very good start for such an enterprise

...and those two jawbone changes and the base of the head change reflect these characteristics that are first found on the typical Zimmermann skull design. Look at a Zimmermann skull and you will see that these features are very similar, as is the crack under the nose and the grove that runs across the upper-left crossbone.
