SS runic collar tab bullion runes opinions needed

    Hi all,
I would appreciate your opinions about this single SS runic collar tab
The runes are embroidered through the buckram backing, have you ever seen this before?
    Thank you!

I have seen one or two runic tabs before where the bullion embroidery comes through the buckram and through the blue backing material which was also a part of the back. But nothing like this
            No not for me ....
            Regards

Thank you for your kind advice!
In my opinion this could be upgraded NSKK as well, I know this kind of buckram
                especially on NSKK tabs.
                regards

The knots tied at the ends of the bullion indicate they were upgraded around 2012.

re: Bullion wire runes thru the back of the tab

I have a vet-acquired example, similar to the one shown at the top of this thread, which was cut off a body, during the Battle of the Bulge, by a US First Infantry Division vet. I believe this was done late in the war, to speed-up production. I would not have believed this to be real, if not for the source I acquired it from. You can view it in the Mike Beaver book 'Insignia and Artifacts of the Waffen SS', on page 294, with the vet holding it. I can't believe I didn't show a reverse side picture of that tab, in the book. I'll post one here in the near future.

Although this is slightly different (note the cloth backing, where the runes come thru the buckram from the front), it WAS done. If there is a 2nd edition of the book, I will get this pictute on the same page as the other pics, showing the obverse of the piece. Details like this are important to collectors.

as you can see, the front side looks relatively 'textbook'.

                            Bullion

It is well known that original examples exist with embroidery directly through the bullion. Knots tied at the end of bullion are totally irrelevant.
