i'm with Martin, from some pictures it seems a fuzzy wool, from another a sort of trikot wave. I don't like frontal cut.

I thought the same , but I know it is definitively the cap made before 45 ,

Unless the old eyes decieve it looks like it had the FIRST model insignia on it..very unusual if it were a repro..Billbert

Not German material. Material looks like the one I had in a wrap tunic in my early collecting days. I realized later that it was an US 70's fake.
It's the same trikot material for sure.
Not good...
P.S. I would like to see the metal insignia...
