      Don,

Apart from your distribution of innuendos would you mind taking time discussing the authenticity of your "SS MK casket" you proudly presented here in the forum?

I mean it is also an important wooden cultural piece of the SS - or isn´t it?

And can you tell us more about the source where you purchased it from?

That would be interesting to know and would help sorting out the real fakes among wooden SS cultural items - especially since I am convinced that you paid big bucks for that piece and would be delighted if any expert commenting here could help finding out whether it is really a fake or not.

I can imagine that would also be of immense help and highly appreciated by all the other members here who own and presented one of these "SS MK boxes", wouldn´t it?

I think that all of the owners of these wooden pieces paid big money for them.

Gary has made the rule quite clear, but just to add my own input as a moderator to the question of "Why are threads closed?"

I would say that probably the main reason that a thread gets closed is beause it ceases to serve any useful purpose for the collectors of militaria and artifacts who are members of this Forum. Instead it becomes an endless back-and-forth of "Yes it is!" and "No it isnt".

Really, gentlemen, there is only so long that a thread like that can go on.

The moderators here are all volunteers.
We have only so much time that we can give to the Forum.
So should we spend our time observing threads that contain significant discussions of militaria?
Or should we devote out limited time and energy to a observing, reading and, often, editing a thread that is going on and on, for page after page, with very little new of substance being added?

Also, please keep this fact in mind:
"Closing" a thread in NOT the same as "Deleting" a thread, which occurs very, very rarely in my experience. A thread that has been "Closed" is still available to be viewed and read; it can still be linked to a later discussion; and it can easily be found by anyone performing a "search" on the topic of the closed thread.

Really, guys, it's a matter of limited time and limited resources, combined with the desire to keep the forum sections focused on meaningful discussions.

        That is my two cents.

P.S.....If we DID get paid, Gary would deserve "combat pay" for his work on THIS section of the Forum !
