Waffen SS Mountain Trooper Shoulder Boards OPINIONS

    Hello gents,
I really would appreciate your opinion about the shown Waffen-SS slip on shouldr boards. My thoughts about them is no good, they look to "clean" to me and I don`t really like the piping, BUT I hope somebody can tell the truth and help...Thank you in advance

I don't care for these straps . Piping looks wrong as well I don't like the material on the bottom side of the straps. I would pass on these ones.

This type of corded piping is known and was used in the construction of period
boards, backing in Italian gabardine is unusual but why not ?
I like this pair, maybe not a one looker, but difficult to find a red flag here..

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

I agree with lenny, Sorry but I know the source for these, they are made in Czech and the guy sells them for 35.00-45.00 a pair, he has them in all flavors for all your SS needs.

Hello Doug, are you really sure (100%) ? I have followed Lenny`s link to the older thread regarding the SS and DAK boards, but rather confusing as the majority agreed on the WSS boards but doubt the DAK ones ? Thanks

And so did others who have buyed such boards. Better to give them a hands inspection than to judge on fotos.
But it is always questionable to get unused, unissued, unusual things. So i have no problems that someone don´t like these boards.

Thanks Doug, do you have any further information. I know there is a young guy in Czech and his first name is "R****" who is a very talentated tailor, are they from this source or where can you find these ?

Yes, you are also right, the final hand inspection gives usually the best impression for a decision, but what I see on the photos was not really
                      speaking to me.

                          HGL,

I think you are looking for boards more like these. The first pair you show are pretending to be SS style Police boards I believe, especially with that police green material on the bottom. I agree, all the boards spoken of above are most likely repro for a number of reasons.

Here is a set of Po boards in SS style with the correct piping for Po. They are not Mt. troops or pz gren...but that Po poison green. They have standard rayon piping and are zig zag sewn around the entire edge of the black wool with the edge folded under on the upper portion above the piping, and on a cut edge and scrap piece on the tongues.

                          Richard
