    SS Reiter prizes

    Hi,
I would like some opinions on my two SS Reiter Standarte competition prizes.
The salver is silver marked,so it must be solid silver, certainly European silver. The wine decantor is complete with class insert for ice and its cork securer, plated as can be seen but still very very nice workmanship.
What I would like to know, has anyone anything similar and just how desirable and rare are pieces like this.
    Regards,Ivan

Although engraved items usually get dismissed right off the bat because of the plethora of fakes, I kind of like these two pieces!

          Thanks Arran,
I know exactly what you mean, the engraving on these two is superb and I have no doubt that they are period done, but as always it is nice to get other opinions and I respect others opinions so chip in or show your similar pieces.
          Regards,Ivan

            One thing makes me wonder:

The dedication on the lid of the mug is:

            "Preis der Standarte - Ehrenpreis".

Either it ought to be "Ehrenpreis der Standarte" or just "Ehrenpreis" - mentioning both declarations is at least bad german language.

Indeed both dedications look period, though.

I dont see a problem with that,as Ehrenpreis is used as the "Subject" so to speak, in a different larger font. Also its too specific to be a noticeable fake, and no overkill with symbols.Plus teh engraving is very fine.I like them both.

I like the engraving too. And the 6th SS-Reiter-Standarte was located in the vicinity of Dusseldorf?

How does one explain the retangular area over the inscription that lacks the silver plating? Wear from closing the lid of the pitcher?

I would like to know that as well, most likely not from wear.

Yes, the 6th formed in Düsseldorf and the 13th were in Mannheim in '35
