      Brigadeführer is not Freitag

It's Kurt Brasack with several other well known "Das Reich" officers

And award document signed by Peter Hansen, Kdr Art Rgt SS/VT, same with eventual "Das Reich," as well as numerous other commands.

Ah, yes, you are quite correct! Sloppy me! More logic, too!

Wonderful Das Reich collection my favorite unit. I notice your icon relates to the unit symbol for the sPZ-Abt 506. I have a feldpost cover mailed by a member attached to the Panzer Tiger unit.

The same insigina was worn by Austrian foruma 1 driver Nikki Lauda
                on his helmet.
It's also used on the pent corner of the 'long house' on the TV series 'Vikings'

In Lauda's case it may have been the logo of the raiffeisenbank (a bank).

It is, as you said, an old detail in (northern) german architecture:

                  http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pferdek...ebelschmuck%29

But was also a "logo" of an RAD unit.
