Mark,
I am sorry you got burned. I think everyone who tries to buy SS cloth without getting some education does. I have seen questionable SS stuff sold by the best dealers, so judge an item on it's own merits and not on who you bought it from or the associated story.
It sucks when you have to eat it, so be sure to take this back to the dealer.
I don't have pictures of the cap interior on the gray sidecap. As I search the internet for original SS headgear, I occasionally run into pieces like the two i posted for sale and I save there images.
Please take a look at the sidecaps i posted and John has posted in threads about WSS headgear and you will see examples of what these caps are supposed to look like.
I don't like the tan cotton liner or the ink stamp in the cap. I have seen these before in caps like I posted pics of. I believe the entire piece cap and all are repro. I hope you can get a refund.

Marc,
I made no personal attack on you as you claim. I simply posted on your estand add that I was sorry to tell you that the insignia were fake and I thought the cap was also. You simply did not believe the truth, nothing personal at all here. The cap you were selling has common fake insignia. Myself and others easily have recognized this fact.
I don't collect helmets or AK stuff so I can't comment on those items but the sidecap is not a good one.
Jerry
You need thicker skin than that in this hobby believe me.

Mark,
thanks for the better pictures of the cap and insignia, this is what i have noticed from your better pictures, the fake insignia is machine sewn onto the cap, so at best it would mean that the lining had been removed to do this if it were an original cap, but frankly i do not like the shape, construction, materials of the cap, IMHO the whole thing is a fake, sorry!
I have seen such caps with and without insignia on the net and at shows even over here in the UK, some seem to be better than others but IMO the reasons above lets them down, I will not elaborate anymore than that as many people read these forums.
cheers,
Gary

A big and expensive learning experience. I am not an SS collector and have never had any intentions of delving into that field in a big way as my main interests are Afrika Korps and US Airborne (quite difficult fields in their own right). Thanks again to all who have been helpful.
Mark
