Latvian Dachau Shield Worn on Post-War Uniform

    Hi,

Just thought I'd share an interesting pic i have in my collection of a Latvian serving in the British Army of the Rhine (1948) who has attached a wartime Latvian Dachau shield to his tunic to designate his Latvian unit! I doubt this was standard procedure if you compare this to those Latvians serving in US Labour Service Companies who had their own unique insignia to illustrate their nationality.

    Regards,

    Chris

Found another one while surfing the web!
This is an Estonian priest in a US service uniform (Ike jacket), Germany 1946
ID = Hans Rebane (24 December 1882 – 16 December 1961) was an Estonian politician, diplomat and a former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.
Note also the Estonian shield on his US piped overseas cap!

Interesting. Can anybody post a US made Estonia shield?
What does the tab read? I assume Estonia?

                          Hi nick,

this is a pretty good website for illustrating the various types of insignia worn by these units.
