    Marc.

    That last cap.

    The button is fine, but I don't like the eagle.

      Marc,
      could you post more pictures of the button, from the side showing the shank? is the button multi piece? it also looks like someone has got a pair of piers and flattened the shank on the back marking the front as well,
      cheers,
      Gary
      PS i agree with Robin I also do not like the cap eagle as well on this example

        Here's the same bird as on Marc's cap in post #11. This little tidbit is for sale currently on a well known auction site under the reproduction section. The only difference that I can see is the backing is cut to the shape of the bird.

          The button is multi pieces and yes, someone (the former owner) used a plier on the button. The button, not original to the cap, came from the museum at the Breendonck camp where someone had stepped on it. The owner has tried to open it again with no success.

          I posted more pictures of buttons in another post. Go to:

          <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

          As for the first cap, I repeat, Robert, this cap was NOT at the SOS it is IMPOSSIBLE!!

          And my question was not for the cap but for the button and eagle.

          Sometimes I ask questions to have someone else’s opinion, even if I know the answer, this is the goal of this forum.

          <o></o>

          The former owner has indeed replaced eagles, he confirmed me today he received the caps without eagles but with Flemish swastikas and replaced these with eagles he bought at a small shop in Brussels “ Raoul” (for the Belgians who remember him)

          <o></o>

          Posted below are pictures of other caps who ALL came from the Brussels war museum when it was still posible to trade stuff. (70’s 80’s) You can see the two caps with fake replaced eagles. One of the caps has no eagle and originally had a Flemish swastika.

                      Here you have a picture of a Flemish volunteer with such an SS VT sidecap on his head. He was with the 3.Kp./SS-Pz. Rgt. 'Das Reich'
