    Hello Marc

    Indeed the insignas are textbook
but the place the eagle is stitched on the cap is IMO
    a little bit to high

If you look at period pics of the w-ss overseas-cap
the eagle is placed so low that you can,t see the swastika
because this is under the flap of the over-seas -cap

But Marc this is just MHO

      John,
not really, there are plenty of wartime pictures with the eagles above the lower flap, here are just a few,
      cheers,
      Gary

                re

                Indeed Gary
your right the few pic,s that I saw the swastika was always hidden under the lower-flap
I thought this was a good indicator because if someone would put a cap together they always want to show the swastika

Sorry Marc for mine bad comment
And thanks again Gary for the pic,s

                  Hi guys,

                  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

I might not know much about SS cloth and uniforms but I know that the few items I inherited from my family are original. I very much doubt my relatives would have messed with stuff they would have thrown out or burned if they had know they where still existing in the house.

I also know (first hand or first mouth I should say) that the soldiers replaced their insignias on caps or uniform themselves on numerous occasions.

If interest I will post a few more pictures of similar items that are from my family or friends and who also have been altered.

                  Marc

One of the first items I received as a kid . The eagle is clearly hand sown; the top of the cap has been sown together so the cap would keep a nice shape. The insigne is damaged and split in two due to the folding of the cap.

I don’t know why this cap has the police eagle and not the SS insignias.

Hello Marc indeed a very intresting cap it is a w-ss overseas-cap with only
                        a police -decal
                        never saw that before
But this one is IMO a good one

And yes I,m intrested in the other pieces that came from your family

Hi guys, I would like to say some words about first cap. I cant say 100% by the photos original it or not, but I can say only that it isnt Textbook ss example as I see it. Why it cant be coastal artillery EM cap with a new sewed ss insignia? Ah?
One textbook cap is now offered by Peter von Luckas without insignia by 300Euros. I am sure in this cap 100%, because I handle it before it came to Peter and I know the source of this cap. This one is textbook example for me. I am understand that it is conversation without end but I prefer to buy the cap made from such (italian) material and with such structure of liner? even it will be without any marking.
