    Near mint ss visor set

    Gents,

My latest addition to my modest and humble collection; a near mint alu Deschler eagle and matching condition Zimmermann cupal skull with about 99%of the original finsh still present.

This came from forum member and dealer Craig Gottlieb. And I must say that although I never dealt with him before, I hope I will in the future.
The service was outstanding. And I would highly recommend him

    Enjoy the pictures.

    Regards,

    Emiel

I think they are both fake.
Send them to me so no other collectors can be ripped off.

That Zimmerman skull is unusual for me - no crack under nose

the crack may have been confiscated by customs - but seriously , this is indeed unusual IMHO ..

Unusual indeed, but here's a picture from another cupal zimmermann I used to own ( and will hopefully be back in my collection shortly ).
One can clearly see the differences and not only the crack under the nose.
The teeth and some other details are different.
Imho another die was used in the process, but I could be wrong and always lo0oking to learn new things

                        Hello Emiel ,
yes I'd be interested to learn too . And sorry for not answering the phone , I have a politically correct audience at the moment - LOL .
But I do like to see a bit of crack on these ..

Emiel, IMO it looks repainted from the pics. Are you sure it isn't?
(And yes, I've been wrong in the past.)

Original skull, original paint. The crack is there, but worn from die wear.
These coned variations were later than the tab-like crimp variations. They are from the same dies, but there is one alteration on the front side of the coned skulls. What happened, is that when they altered the back side to have the cone attachments, it created a different stress point between the crossbones on the left side of the front. Here is your pic with this area circled. Anyway, wonderful set!

                            Best,

                            Chris

Thanks Chris for the explanation as always!
But allow me to ask you this; could you please explain the differences in the teeth?
The teeth on both skulls don't look the same imho

                              Thanks Chris,

                              Emiel
