John, I think if you go back to some earlier threads you will find that your pin and the one at the beginning of the thread are properly termed Ehrennadel d. FM Mitglieder. These more ornate pin were created at Himmler's order to honor the earliest FM Members. These were the first 30,000 financial supporters of the SS. The number was later expanded to the first 50,000. The FM had their own organization, membership book and membership pin; their organization provided financial support for the SS. If they stopped their pledged payments, the pins and books were to be returned to the local SS-Sturm.

Joe,
Of course, you are correct with your more extended and in depth description of the badge and the ensuing organization. However, the German word "Ehrennadel" as you have previously described and interpreted as 'Honor" or Honorary is how you've used in our previous discussions consequently, my verbiage.

These Ehrennadels were intended to honor those early FM Members by the more elaborate design on the front. And as you have seen in your collection of FM magazines, these pin were presented with much pomp and circumstance by the local SS Sturm. But these FM Members were not honorary SS members.
