This thread gives me cold sweats. I was wondering if anyone had any comments on Wessel's tunic?

Yes the visor is a fake. They were made in the 1980's early 90's. See the fake Muller thread in headgear section.

The quality of the tunic is very high (see the quilted lining and arm-hole padding).
The tunic itself looks good, but I would welcome any thoughts on the insignia.
Dear forum members, I would like to kindly ask you to provide me any comments regarding second tunic mentioned in this thread (I mean standartenfuhrer tunic) it is at the moment available (without medals) and I would like to know what do you think, whether the tunic it self is original and whether the insignia are original as well .... .

Many thanks in advance for any opinion.

Lartiste in reply to your PM I'm afraid I have nothing to offer on the subject other than to say if John say's the eagle is a fake then you can bet the farm on it being exactly that.

                  Ulric of England

                  Dear Ian and John

Many thaks for your reaction, I still cant believe it. The tunic is at the moment in offer of Ulric of England - http://www.ulricofengland.com/prodsh..._/g007336.html. I made my first purchase with him almost 20 years ago, until now nothing major, but still and I was considering the purchase of this tunic.

You both and this forum saved me few thousands and I am really grateful for that.

The problem is over 20 years still the same. I considered Ulric a bit (OK, not just a bit, but a lot ) snoby, but not cheater, at the moment the trust just gone... .

Many thanks again and be patient please as well in future with my questions .

The point is that this is an utterly fake tunic. The caveat that it "may" be Lombard's tunic does not conceal the fact that from badge loop placings to rank and to the tailor's tag (with the name and date commensurate to Lombard's history) that it could be nothing else. The last nail in the coffin is John's identification of a Seider eagle.

I can also see that the Holters label in the neck of the "Lombard" tunic has been sewn in by hand in careful imitation of machine sewing. Furthermore, the labels are from two different eras in Holters' history- note the different addresses!

Sure these are just honest mistakes - a dealer would never try to misrepresent his wares knowingly, would he?

                          So what is Ulric asking?

Never, ever, but it is a bit hard to believe in case of a dealer who claims to provide its clients "unrivalled experience and know how" .
