    Orange Cufftitle?

    Hi guys, I am not too familiar with SA cuff titles--I know it is not SS but I figured this may be the best forum as SS titles are constructed in a similar way and we do not have any SA forum. Is this cufftitle real or fake? Is it a fantasy piece? Any help would be appreciated, thanks, John

              Hi John;

              These in fact did exist. Looking at it from an SS cuffband point of view, from what I can see, the borders both top and bottom are 6 strands each? If this is the case, then it's really not a good sign as generally these types of bands run 7 strands both top and bottom. There were some excellent 6 strand repros done in the 60's of SS cuffbands and I don't see why SA bands wouldn't have been reproduced as well. Also, an H series RZM tag usually denotes some type of hand embroidered item in bullion so an awfully high series to be on this type of band. Again, applying SS construction points, the embroidery of the lettering is troublesome to me. There's really no consistency in thickness and the letters aren't clearly defined. Sorry I can't be more definitive and please let someone familiar with SA items have a look at it as these bands are very rare.

                As Tony indicated, these existed although there are few or no photos showing them in use. I agree with his points--the 6 strand border is not a good sign, the letters do not appear to be perpendicular to the edges (they're slanted slightly)and are not neatly done, and the woven fabric looks a bit rougher than that found on those considered original.

                  Hi Tony and Erich:

                  Thanks for the information. I also was wondering why the tag had an "H" which to me seemed like a "high" letter for a machine embroidered band.

                    ss leaders who were attached to the Oberste sa-Führung wore this, entil 1934 wen the SS became seperate element.
                    The color must be crimson.
