Restoration of a cuff title to a tunic

    Hi Guys,

I'm about to restore a cuff title to a tunic.

I am going to neatly hand sew this, but I would be love some help as to how to make the join at the rear of the cuff as neat, and as correct as is possible.

Do I cut the ends to just over the required length and the sew the join closed before I apply the title, or do I leave it full length and fold the excess under and stitch it down?

Don't want to make a balls up!

    Any help welcome

in a lot of picture of untouched tunic you can see ct from previous tunic cut and fit. By the way you can also see a lot of pics with the excess folded moreover with bevo ct.

if i can give to you an opinion... don't cut nothing.

      Hi,
I once owned what I believe was an untouched (well-worn) Gotz von Berlichingen Mann's tunic (originally from a veteran I was told by a friend). The cuff-title was not cut (please don't cut an original band!!) and the ends went through the jacket seam (as though factory applied). I don't believe cuff-titles were factory applied therefore I assume the unit tailor may have opened the seam and re-closed it afterwards. Everything was machine sewn, nothing hand-sewn.

Has anyone else seen this method used? If you handled this tunic, believe me, you would form the opinion that it had never been messed with.....

Fold the excess ends back under themselves. Like everyone else said, don't cut an original cufftitle and don't open the cuff seams.
