Why not? They are brown. They are KZ in my eyes.

SS shoulder boards - brown piping

Well...unless the Kz guards wore black uniforms, the boards wasted a lot of black material. The Germans are not known for their waste of essential uniform cloth. If they were SS boards they would have field gray scrap cloth backing, a different style tongue, a different facing material on the tongue, etc. These boards were made for a black panzer wrap whether Heer or SS. They are also Heer style, which does turn up on SS panzer wraps too.

Copper brown was used for panzer recon units for various periods of time. Gold yellow and pink were also used by recon units, the exact periods can be looked up in reference books. The boards can be whatever you want them to be since you paid for them. I was sharing my opinion from 40+ years of experience, feel free to ignore it. I also feel that as recon boards for a black wrap they are more valuable than SS kz boards. If you want to swap I will find you an SS style set of Kz E.M. boards.

He didn't request for opinions, he merely stated that ANY would be welcomed!
These boards could be either Panzer OR KZ. At the end of the day, they used whatever they could get their hands on as long as the boards showed a resemblance to the coloured piping they were supposed to have.
If these boards were all the KZ guard could get, then he used these. Likewise, if all the panzer guy could get was the field grey backed ones, then that is what he used. Personally, I don't think they were that anal about different materials, slightly different shades in colour etc.
Therefore, Richard is correct, they can be whatever you want them to be.
