Description:

This is an excellent quality WWII German Waffen SS metal visor cap insignia (both eagle and skull) which was for all ranks worn on the visor cap (predominantly higher ranks) the detail is excellent given its age, and the once lusterous shine has been slightly tarnished over time (but some shine still remains). The skull is in less good condition of the two - just with some marks in the corners due to its age as the pictures below show
It is marked SS475/42 on the back (Walter Demmer, Lüdenscheid) the 42 at the end denoting the year it was produced (1942). The photo did not produce a good picture of the markings on the back of the eagle as it was difficult to focus.

While this bird actually looks more like a pigeon than the one which we now call the "pigeon head," that name is already taken. Perhaps we could focus, instead, on this one's strange tallons. How 'bout "golf tee toes" or simply "tee toes?"

Skull

Seldom encountered due to it's extreme rarity, the skull IS original. This frightening insignia was worn proudly by members of the SS "Heimatlos" Division. Comprised of mostly alcoholics, they suffered "staggering" losses.
