            What type of shield shadow is on the tunic? Kuban?

              No.. campaign shield i think.
              I am pretty sure it have been an arm flag, unit/Div./national shield.
              One of the Handschar types maybe.

                  Not sewn jet, but fits like a glove. Also happy with the nice patina.

                      one step further.. Need info!

                      One of my favorite w-ss units is the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland. Since i am Norwegian i specially interest for, and like offcause the SS-Panzer grenadier rgt. 23. NORGE.

                      I have a NORGE armshield and have a question for you, since i thinking use this Norwegian-flagshield on my tunic;

                      "Where there SIGNAL TRUPPEN IN 23. rgt. NORGE??? Or did this unit have any signal/Nachrichten Offisers at all?"

                      Reason i ask is the combiation signal yellow shoulder boards and Norge armshield, but if this is totaly wrong i must maybe consider something else.

                      Best regards
                      Gisle

                        The Rgt. staff would have a small communications/signals Platoon and the Division a Nach. battalion (SS#11) with more officers. Three of the tunics above are most likely 8 button tunics, the first one is similar in style to a late 1920s pattern RH tunic with slash pockets and the last also appears to be an Early style service/dress tunic. Good luck.

                          I agree with you on the allocation of Signal officers in an SS Division and Regiment. I also agree with your opinion on the first 2 of the 3 SS tunics posted in the period photos.

                          I'm not so sure about the 3rd tunic however..the TK officer...I forget his name. but this is from a much published small series of photos of him. None of the photos that I have seen at least really show a good full view of his tunic, but I think that it may be a Dutch conversion. I think that the photos were taken in the late summer or autumn of 1940...so the timeframe makes it possible to be a Dutch tunic.

                          It is hard to say if there is an eighth button that can not be seen..if so it is not Dutch of course, but I also look at the shallow depth of the upper pocket flaps and the wider box pleats in the pockets...these are often found on Dutch pre-war officer tunics...also the close location of the buttons to the placket edge and the way that the sleeve lining is set back several cm in the cuff...very typical of Dutch tunics. The depth of the turn backs is harder to tell for sure, but they appear deeper than Dutch style...but these were often modifed to the 15cm depth anyway when used by the Germans.
