    ss officer tunic restoration

Hi all. I have started a restoration project of an waffen-ss officer tunic.
I post pics here for those who would like to follow the progress, and feel free to give me tips and info.

    The story goes as this:
Given by ss vet. in Dresden to collector. Vet. served first in Totenkopf div., then transfered as officer to 13. Waffen-Gebirgs-Division Handschar.

This ss jacket is probably Dutch tailor made.
The rang as you can see, are Obersturmfürer and the unit is Signal/Nachrichten. Lemon yellow piping. The shoulder boards are original to the tunic.

There are signs of a ss sleeve eagle and a shield.
7 button tunic, not often to see, but was used by w-ss officers.
    Here are first pics.

    Regard´ss

        Hi Gisle,

are the traces of a Demjansk shield? Did it have a cufftitle?

        Kind regards,
        Gerd V

            Hi Gerd
No.. I can not see signs of any campaign shield or cufftitle.
The cuffs are sewn, not open, and shorter than i am used to see.

My friend has an officer tunic from the Wiking Division, which has the shorter French cuffs that are sewn shut. He believes that it was probably made in Holland as well. That may be a Dutch characteristic of officer tunics.

Sounds like a nice tunic, IMO these are converted from or patterned after the PreWar Dutch tunics, the 7 button front is also a diagnostic feature and the short French cuffs- This is a converted Dutch Issue tunic for an Army NCO.

Thanks for posting this nice jacket Johnny R Yes, there is definetly likeness in style to my officer tunic. Also the 2 button backside has been there, but are removed. Same short french cuffs.
