does placement matter? and how about the infamous SS-BW. Was there ever a wavy line reinforcement on the backside of the collar? Are the buttons usually marked?

Man I keep editing to add questions. Hopefully thats it for now.

        Thanks for the help

            Elvis,

There is a simple solution - buy Mike Beaver's "Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen SS" and study it. That way you will gain a strong basis on which to build.

Attached is the image of a smooth cotton M44.

I would love to get some books but I am pretty sure this will be a one time shot for me. The uniform I am working on getting would be a good deal.

              Thanks for the pics.

No opinions? The more I look into this uniform and poke around researching closer I come to believing it is real. I think it all looks good so far.

                  Thanks,
                  Erik

I second that, then get the uniform 3 vol set after that, these books are a must have.

Can you post photo's of the whole jacket inside out? I must say that though this type of jacket is best with a hands on look although there are some who will be able to tell you from the pictures, I am not one of those on this type of jacket sorry, it looks to me as if the markings are buy the belt hook holes?
                    cheers,
                    Gary

There are on the inside left just below the armpit to the left of the belt holes. Where is a good place to get these books? Are they through the one we get discounts through?
this is the same jacket posted in a thread I put up a couple weeks ago.

                      Thanks Gary,

                        Elvis,

Allow my frustration to show - you have posted this stuff twice on at least two different forums. We have responded (including experts such as Gary W.) but no one can guarentee anything on photos alone - especially those as limited as yours. I have recommended an appraisal by acknowleged authorities - but you do not appear interested (or prepared to spend the $). You further state that this will be a "one-off" and that you do need need to acquire the research material to make your own judgements.

Bottom line - this is up to you alone. You must make the decision. No one is going to make it for you - this is a decision point: get serious about SS collecting or get out.

                        Mike

HAHA.. I have contacted a good authenticator. Unfortunately I cannot send it to him right yet. I would like to get as much info on here or the other site before I get to deep into it. I love it when people say you have posted the same thing on 2 forums. The reason People do that is because different people frequent different forums. Just b/c someone posts here does not mean they post on the other side. I know of at least one good example that does this. I am not upset with you. I understand where your frustration could be coming from. Unfortunately you do not know all of the circumstances. I am in a career field that requires a lot of patience, and it is nice when I get it back some times, but please do not post if you are going to try and knock me down.

                          Thanks,
                          Erik

One word of caution, MOST SO CALLED EXPERTS AREN'T, and what is in your hand is junk while what is in their hand is always GOLD.

Could you post photos of the uniform ?
Photos on what thread is being used in the stitching, type of buttons, panels in the lining, pattern of the camoflage and so on.
Excelent repros has been made. I my self got burned on a M44 Dot jacket with trousers.
I know that the SS-BW marking where used during the war. There are US Army photos showing it being used. On the other hand, reprodusers and fakers use this type of marking to make repros look more "original"

                              Cheers.
