I bet they are now retooling their dies and reordering their screws.

There is absolutely no way to make accurate copies off of photos. There are way too many variable factors that distort size, such as angle of the photo in relation to the object being photographed. The slightest variation off of dead center distorts the object. Almost every make of camera scales photos slightly differently. They can't even get it right when they have an original in front of them.

Agree, as he had (has) an original in hand to copy...

First one was 90-120 days ago as an open sale in Europe on a named site already mentioned. I wondered why detailed photos of this badge were showing on a dealer web site and sent the link out and inquired for that reason alone.

Price tag was somewhere around 15k U.S I think and not sure how many photos there were in all. Links do not work on that site as you need a log in and cannot page direct.

No one see's these badges at shows, no one sees these badges in general. All of a sudden here is one with detailed photos for 15k. Most guys never see this badge in its original form, its just that rare. I think I saw at least two at the S.O.S and still did not give it thought. If you want to test a piece in market you have to introduce it, its been out there for 4 months roughly.

Nightmare for collectors here, and the guy handling them is the same. Now I know why there were detailed photos that no one else would post on the web, to see if they would pass. They did, but a lot of that had to do with the site function. This is a nightmare for a few guys I think and I was thinking the dealer was being reckless posting the photos, that was not reckless, it was calculated. Not sure what happened here but I am sure where it started, someone needs to coin out.

Thanks for the additional pictures. The nuts are very good, but certainly not perfect.

                      Best, Chris

Are you talking about the nuts to attach the badge or the dealer?

This hobby has plenty of those, like a can of Planters-Mixed nuts
                          Very good thread BTW!

If you bought/traded for one of these examples from that fellow at the SOS your not.

Very interesting thread. Are there some pics on which this brooch is seen on wear?

I saw one of these brooches for sale in a show case at the last SoS (the seller had a beautiful NCO Leibstandarte Panzer jacket with pink piping around the collar and the collar tabs ). Did somebody else saw this brooch? Was it one of the "Winkler's hoard" or an original one?
