    Waffenfarbe question Handschar Div.

    Question on waffenfarbes in Handschar.
It being a Mountain units the regular farbe was of course mountain-troops
GREEN which was the predominant farbe for 80% of all Handschar troops...
    and some of the Divisional supporting sub units were;
    -SS Gebirgs Art.Btl. 13 RED
    -SS gebirgs-pionier Btl 13 BLACK,
    -SS nachrichten Abt.13 YELLOW
-SS Flab Abt. 13 "RED"-"Veterinar dienste" WINE RED ,
    -sanitater/medical BLUE and so on...

but what about this sub unit; Handschar had a
    -"SS-Panzerjager Abteilung 13".
With "Panzerjaeger" is meant Panzerabwehr, so PAK troops.
Would their farbe be PINK ? and worn along with Gebirgs insignia, like the edelweiss sleeve patch?
In other words could an officer in Pz.Jag.Abt.13 of Handschar have worn
this PINK farbe set? (with cypher "P" perhaps)

I look at it like you do, means I think men attached to the division's Panzerjäger-Abteilung would have to wear pink piped straps/boards and starting with NCO ranks they could wear metal P cyphers.

    Cheers

      Thanks for confirming Fritz.
SS Pz-Jg. Abt. 13, the PAK unit of SS Gebirgs Div."Handschar" would wear regular "Handschar" mountain insignia, but their shoulder rank insignia would be pink piped than.
Looking at possibly recreating such an impression!
Handschar with PINK piping! Exotic combination!

When Handschar and remnants of "Kama" merged, SS Pz-Jg. Abt. 13 was pulled from "Handschar", as it was considered a "special Troops of Reichsfuhrer SS" unit and was assigned directly to IX SS Mountain Corps control, under the new designation SS-PzJg. Abt.509.
Here Himmler is visiting the unit during a training exercise, November 1943.
The young recrute still missing Handschar tabs and shoulderstraps!

PS: SS-"Flab" in the 1st post (red farbe) should have read: SS-"Flak" of course... Sorry!!

Continuing the pink Waffenfarbe theme, besides Handschar, another GebirgsJaeger division had units that were entitled pink Waffenfarbe; "Prinz Eugen"
Like Handschar no doubt "Prinz Eugen" also had PAK troops (panzer Abwehr) but in addition (unique for a GJ unit) they also had an armored component.
Prinz Eugen used foreign obtained second rate tanks (tankettes) like captured French Hotchkiss designs to give their anti-partisan missions some additional fire power.

This tank officer photo inspired a neat Osprey illustration!
Note BeVo cap eagle! Pink farbe on visor I wonder?
            Does not look bright white!

Here's the illustration. Gebirgs insignia on a black Pz wrapper
with pink waffenfarbe! Pretty wild combination I think!

Here Prinz Eugen troops in field gray with panzers! So pink waffenfarbe
(and SS sleeve edelweiss possibly, not visible unfortunately)

Note Gebirgsjaeger rucksacks and cap edelweiss insignia!
Gebirgsjaegers on the move! They would have green waffenfarbe...
Not panzer guys... just hitching a ride!

Continuing the pink farbe topic for GJ troops,
lets switch from "Panzer" (Prinz Eugen examples) back to "Panzer Abwehr" (like that Handschar posts)!

Here's a great image to study of a GJ SS-Oberscharfuhrer in a Panzer-Abwehr (PAK) unit.
Not sure what Division he belongs to...

He's wearing Panzer Abwehr "P" cypher NCO straps with no doubt appropriate pink piping.
The Edelweiss (a metal Heer pattern for some reason) is proof that he's a GJ trooper.
The private purchase buckled Bergmutze (HJ style) is also of interest!

Untill the issue of regular WSS edelweiss (late 1943), a good % WSS GJs used, against regulations, Heer\Polizei sleeve and fieldcap edelweiss.

I saw a Army GJ Oberfeldwebel tunic that was from a US veteran that had "P" devices on green piped boards once. He may have been assigned to a leaderless PAK unit as an NCO towards the end of the War etc. but I think they wore what they had even though regs would specify pink.
