Maybe the artist can join this thread as well - I would like to know what inspired him for creating this and what other motifs in future are on his mind.

The prints are fantastic, about 100% nicer than on my picture. I am going to ask Justin Zimmerman to post on the thread and then you can contact/pm him directly. He is asking 90 US for an unframed print, which I think is well worth while,especially as he is going to do a set of five, including Meyer and Peiper. Jacques

Thank-you for all the positive feedback for my Wittman Sketch!

It's my passion for the subject matter that inspires me...starting from when I was 5 yrs old. I originally started doing pencil sketches of fighter aircraft and started doing an Ace series as a companion to the aircraft. I just found that doing a standalone portrait looked very BOOOOOORING and decided to include the aircraft as well as adding some colour with the Knight's Cross medal.

At present I'm busy with Otto Carius and Marseilles. Following that, over the next couple of months, I plan to do sets (5 prints in a set) of Knight's Cross holders. These will be of the Luftwaffe, Waffen SS, Fallschirmjäger etc

I originally only did the Luftwaffe Ace series, but Jacques has inspired me to branch out and do more of the Wehrmacht.

My website should be up and running properly by the end of December. If anyone wants to buy any prints before then, e-mail me and we can work out a plan.

If these are pencil-drawings, how do you achieve such contrast and detail in the reproduction prints?

I've been away from what I would call "true" artwork for some time now, but I don't recall ever being able to achieve such detailed resolution in the reproduction of a pencil-drawing - the pencil was always my favorite medium to work in, but I could never achieve a satisfying reproduction of my work . . .

If this is what is possible today, I would be very happy to open up my old tool-chest and dabble again . . . from these low-resolution photos, I would say very nice work indeed! Some day I must see the genuine result . . . I would imagine it to be, from a personal standpoint, very inspiring.

I agree, I like that more than the other one. Nice likeness of Galland-you fully capture his warrior spirit by conveying masterfully the steely glare of a true tetunic bird of prey.
