    Ss trumpet banner????

    Hey Guys,
We have seen all sorts of flags with pirate skulls (Friekorp) and all weird looking stuff over the years, so i thought i would ad this.
When i use to go to the gun shows up here in Maine, people would at times bring items to sell, one show ths came in from an old man...maybe 80+ years old?....looked it anyway...had this in a paper bag, so i couldn't resist buying it.
All jokes and smart a** remarks are welcome
Could be OK...and could not.....have fun
    Regards,
    Gary

I would have bought it also. But if the 80 year guy was from Latvia and his 40 y.o. son was in the parking lot laughing, I would have been skeptical.

God Lumsden is the man for this mystery. Good Luck!

          I'll be watching this!!

Hold on a minute......Now just looking at pics again, I noticed that the trumpet is shown in pics. in a close-up with eagle. The banner looks home made and ancient from the '20's - very early '30's, but the eagle looks way more modern. Also the detail on the eagle, if it is older is very bad.....all this IMHO. I am skeptical. I can't wait though for the experts to have a look and comment.

btw. Pre RZM stuff could be sloppy home mades, right? I mean there are plenty of old and "good" skulls that were very UGLY,... I guess that's why RZM was necessary.

I'll be checking back on this one!

P.S. Did the Freemasons use SS runes? lol

              Morning Gary (and John),

From Maine to NY there appears no sleep for the wicked.

Gary, you would be the best judge on the age of that thing. Clearly, anyone can affix some cloth to a bugle...

My thought is there were some very funky totenkopfs made in the day. JP's right. Forward the link to Robin for review but also look into the numerals on the back. What unit were they for?

Well, the Bugle Rick is about 2 1/2' long....kinda long for a bugle
The eagle John, isn't it the M29 style?
Freemasons i guessed used everything...have to find there coding methods, like in the movies
Roman numerals 3 on each side.....

The banner is completely fake, I don't collect trumpets so I can't help there, Sonny

Not an expert so don't know.

But I have tons of period photos showing hats, tunics, flags, etc no collector at a show would believe or touch with a stick.

That's why those photos are so important. They show how goofy the concept of "texbook" is when taken to extremes.

Tip; Check the trumpet very closely for any "MADE IN CHICAGO" die stamps.

Where are the experts? Probably at work.

                        This still has some hope.......?

May not be "textbook", and not saying its real or fake either.
Just coming out saying "complete fake" ???
                          Cottage maker?
                          Pakistan fake?
Don't see enough to make any decision, plus when i got it, and what i paid
                          really don't matter.

I've seen many German banners and flags over the years and this does not have the quality of German workmanship. I don't think the skull design looks correct for the period. I have heard of cases were elders have been sent into shows with stuff that they allegedly brought back..... to pawn off as real.

The eagle's looking better to me. But I still think that the banner and the eagle don't match, which would mean that the banner was added later, when later, and by whomr? who knows. Wonder if banner was already old when added.

Can you get a siide shot of eagle showing where wings meet trumpet? how was it applied? How was that craftsmanship?
