Thanks Glenn, the stampings below are on a one looker good SS M43 jacket ( I dont own this jacket, but its a good one), and Im trying to figure out what the difference is, as they look fairly identical, its a tough call. I would think that with todays scanners, digital imaging, cameras, and photoshopping, it would be fairly easy to take a "good" ss bw stamping, and make a pretty darn near identical copy of it, its a pretty straight forward stamp, and I can not imagine it would be that hard to reproduce. The tunic to which the below image is affixed is definitely a good tunic, the tunic to to which the first stencil is affixed, is questionable, ( I have not held it in hand to examine) hence, my concern re the fairly exactness of the two stencils in when viewed side by side, as my eyes cant see any distinguishable differences.Attached FilesLast edited by Scott A. Thanks to those who replied, I'll see if I can do any sort of side by side comparison with photoshop on the stencil. I also think the numerals in the first photo looks suspicious, just a gut feeling. As to the stencils SS-BW if they are indeed fake then they are copied from an original as honestly, I dont know what those who say they are fake (Im not disagreeing with you) are cluing in on, however, I see no discernable difference in the two stencils, if anyone can point out to some specifics re the "good" vs. purported "bad", that would be enlightening Im sure for me. Of a dozen or more SS tunics parkas, dot camo etc, not a single one of my pieces is SS BW marked, I realize this is not a benchmark of a good or bad piece, but I do believe the repros typically do have the SS BW for no other reason that to some it lends some feeling of authenticity, similar to Betr Ra, however, I also think in todays age, some of these stamps must have been copied using original examples as a template.
