I agree with Fritz and Don. This is an original jacket dyed for post-war use with an added SS eagle.

I appreciate the comments and they seem logical. I agree that the eagle has been added. I'm leaning toward removing it, or should I leave it alone? Many thanks for your opinions. Dexter

I also agree, we used to dye WWII Swedish tunics for reenacting etc. and neither the linings nor the thread would hold the dye after the rinsing. It actually to me is neat by itself withouth teh eagle as an example of postWar use for uniforms. Another option would be seeing what would happen with color remover?
