    Early ss flag

    Need some help here...
I find old picture of this flag
    Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
    Thank you!

It is an early one, but it is not an SS flag.
Rather for the NSBO, a labor organization.

    Still a very nice flag!

the SS man in the photo is holding an SS flag. Your flag has the wrong fringe also to be SS.

The SS man IS holding an SS flag. Your flag is not an SS flag.

Note the unit designation on the one the SS man is holding "II/34" that is an SS unit.

Your is a for the 5th district in the south part of the town of GieBen, and with the colors it is NSBO

              Small Correction.

              The city is actually Giessen.

                You are correct~!
I just used the "B" to emulate the ß, (as I don't have the font)
rather than use the anglicized SS.

Actually, Jerry's "opinions" are FACTS. They are substantiated by documentation in the Organisationsbuch der NSDAP in the chapters on the NSBO and the SS that feature color renderings of proper flags. Do you have some evidence other than a photo of a totally different flag backing your guess, er....opinon, that your flag is an "early SS flag"?

                    Hello JoeW:
NSBO corner patch flags are often mistaken as SS Sturmbannfahnen
as flag book plates usually fail to show the silver metalic thread used
on the SS flags. That is to say that in books NSBO white is also shown
on SS unit flags, when the harder to print silver color should have been
used on the SS-B corner patch cord edge, lettering, and fringe center.
                    ........ OLDFLAGSWANTED .......
                    ..

Photos are from a previous WAF thread on SS unit flags.

                        Hello nsdap79:
NSBO flags are quite common, worth IMO around $500 or so.
SS-SBF are very rare, only a couple dozen known, and such are
worth 10-20 times what an NSBO (with pole rings) would bring.

i have seen these NSBO's go for close to $2000
not saying they are all worth that but $500 seems kind of low. but this one does not have the rings so that would definitely effect the value.IMHO
