What do you collectors think of these?

A friend sent me scans of the new Volume 2 of Uniforms, Organization and History of the German Police by John R. Angolia and Hugh Page Taylor (Bender Publications). He scanned the pictures of Police (Security Police) General's collar tabs. What do you think of these? I've seen pictures of some of these that Dave Delich had and noticed that they are not nearly as detailed (in their gold on green backing) as the SS generals insignia is; however, some of these are really bad. If these were presented as SS generals collar tabs (silver on black), they'd be jumped all over as being reproductions, and in some cases, pretty poor ones at that. There are a couple of these tabs that are attributed to a couple of collectors but I cannot read their names. What are you opinions of these?

Here are a pair of known reproduction (and aged to fool a collector) SS-Gruppenfuhrer collar tabs. Compare the characteristics of these to the Police General collar tabs. Look pretty much the same to me.

Compare these to an authentic pair of SS-Gruppenfuhrer collar tabs and notice the differences in the details.

          Doc,

Yours matches up with the authentic SS generals collar tabs in my last post (#4) than many of the ones in the Police book. Nice piece by the way! I have a problem with people putting bad stuff in books that is suspect as these books become the references for collectors to compare new acquisitions. This is setting us collectors up for failure.

I think this new volume will go nicely with my Gottlieb SS rings book.

Stop cutting up that police general's uniform!

Check out the SS tag and the lollipop acorns.

                        Doc,

That is one sweet collar tab and pointy tip...too bad you didn't have time for the pair. Glad you at least yanked a board. Next time go for the gold sleeve eagle! Very nice pieces, congrats.

The tag and tab on post #10 are late 60's to mid 70's era fakes in my opinion.

It won't be the first time that fakes have made their way into an Angolia volume.
