Brad posted one that looks similar in construction and some liked it, some did not and what the outcome was, I have no idea!
Any chance of a bit more detailed discussion so I might learn something about these things?

Hiya Ben,

I really don't like the one that started that thread but the one Larry posts near the bottom does look like It could be a good piece. If you look, the example you post uses much different bullion, almost guitar string like. This type of bullion Is very typical of the Indian/Pakistani fakes that saturated the market about 10 years ago after the publication of a certain book. The backing material Is unlike originals, with a much coarser weave, and Is synthetic In these types. The tag Is a copy.

I believe some European countries used a slightly similar type of bullion (especially Italy, look at theatre made US patches) but different none the less. Cuff bands are tricky as there certainly were anomalies which were theatre made but these are the exception rather than the rule. To be safe with these only collect what are considered to be textbook types, eg Bevo, RZM, Flatwire etc etc. Even that's a bit of a minefield these days.

There Is a cuff title book that I think Gordon Williamso was co author of and It Is a very good place to start.

I can see what he means, a sort of castelation effect along the edges of the border. I'm not sure If thats a definite trait of reproduction but I'm sure felix knows much more about this than me who am merely a rank amature. One thing I would say though is forgetting the edging I would not want any of the 3titles shown In that collage from the embroidery alone.

Ben, that is an awful fake. Your thread you linked to shows an excellent reproduction LAH Cufftitle. You will figure out cufftitles fast, much easier collecting field, unless you talking about rare variations.
