RZM paper labels info

Even though I quit actively collecting many years ago, I have looking at some of my things. I have seen discussions on the forum about the RZM SS paper labels, and became curious (I never knew much about them before). I have searched the forum and the web, and became somewhat frustrated trying to find out about them. I learned that "A" stood for simple work by hand; "B" stood for machine work; "C" was more detailed etc., etc., but did not find codes etc.. Is there a web source on this stuff?

The label on this tab for instance........I assume the 463 is a maker code, but what is the "M" representing.....and is the number following it and item number, or something totally different.

The RZM code letters defined the amount of tax paid on each piece. The A code is for machine embroidered or woven items of the simplest, and cheapest price. B is for more comples, therefore more expensive items. It follows that C, D, F, etc are for han embroidered items that cost more.

The letter code that preceeds the number of the tag is simply a series number, as the RZM did not use more than 6 numbers. The first series would be A and then the serial number. When 999999 comes up, the next would be the B, starting with 000001.

The number stamped or written toward the top right is the maker's code.
