Well I got excited at first , but it now is looking like we might have a good set of SS Tabs juiced up with pink piping and a D tag to grab some real Cash. Somebody said 3k !!!! Wow, it is profitable to sew on piping or did I already know that.

I just talked with the seller, and he did send the tabs to the SOS for an English collector to review. The buyer balked at the price, and the seller brought them home.

Other than the condition being too nice - as in they look too new - what issues does anyone have with the TK tabs? Considering what these cost, and as I do have a return right, I would like to have something more concrete than unease concerning their outstanding condition. I do appreciate the opinions, but am looking for an actual issue with constructon, materials, or form.

If you lined up 100 tagged tabs, a good portion of the time the letters don't match the work. Some of these rune tabs shown are marked A and B - but are identical on the obverse. Blank SD tabs and embroidered show the same number, for instance. Would the pink piping rate a higher letter if the pink piping was factory sewn - what's to say these are tailor added? Would "D" better reflect this factory work?

If some of our more advanced collar tab collectors with a tagged set of the "pinks" would care to post, I think all us would benefit. Does anyone own a pair?

All in all, very good discussion and I appreciate the view points. My read: as before, I love the pink tabs and think there's little value in speculating on what such a tag shown be coded, with no precedent tabs to compare them to. The TK tabs - they are perfect, but too mint if there can be such a thing. I'll hold off on anything further from my end until they are in hand, and i'll post better pics at that time.

Again, thanks to all that are contributing!

      regards, Robert

        uh oh ...

The hand embroidered TK falls well below any Third Reich standard.

Look at this...that is what a real Skull looks like. Yours is simply not real. my opinion. Like Sayle said, if your happy with them keep them.

I do not think a D Tag has anything to do with pink piping.

I would agree that the TK tab shown is a good one, and one of dozens of original example styles shown on this forum, in reputable reference books, and in original collections.

The type I show is also a style that is accepted, made correctly. Again, more pictures to follow.

I believe these were done at the unit level . I've yet to see a uniform removed tab w/ the piping machine sewn. It's always the unissued pieces......I'm sure somebody will conjure up one.

These are the only 2 of the ones I have that are tagged.

Steve, thanks for the excellent tagged examples. Those are beauties. Machine sewn examples do appear from time to time; here is one on the Collectors Guild that is a machine sewn, uniform-removed example. http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...s/S018458.html

Peter, tag lettering again is confusing. The C shown is not what was suggested it may be, and is the upper tab shown depicting a B or D?

                        Again Steve, super tags.

                        s/f Robert

                          Hi Robert,
Actually the image showing the 2 piped tabs is correct. A bullion runic tab 99% of the time is coded C, which this one is and the thread embroidered runic is a (should be) "B".
Robert, in the image that you posted showing all the tagged backs, what is on the front side of the silver piped tab in the center? It has a "B" code. My guess is a SD blank front.

How common was it for soldiers at the unit level to have pink piping added to their collar tabs? Does the same apply to adding piping to their wraps?

I would be interested in hearing what everyone thinks of this LAH wrap which is currently for sale.

Stay on with the current thread and don't start here with a Uniform here or open just a new thread.

The D level does not make sence as the tags where given to standard RZM items work effort. The pink piping was no RZM standard and was done from a tailor, his wife his mom or the field tailor anything related into this direction. So a higher tax letter does not make sence at all, this D tag is common to find on the massed from armbands hord finds in the past. Just another indication and proof for these items and source.

                                ... the proper construction ...

I assume very much Ebay was the last chance to get away with em.
The Panzer tabs and the skull tabs are a runaway. I just wonder about some individuals that praise crap as good and even offer crap to others and are then the highlights in the collector scene, shame.
