Yes a lot of fakes around see the above thread. As far as prices go probably 6000 + USD. When you find one make sure it has a Don Boyle COA before you put out the big $$$.

Detlev had some recently and he offered them for "reasonable" prices, I think as low as 3500 Euros if I remember that right. I also think that the rarity of these rings is a bit overrated and condition is important on these as well. So some patience, money and the right advise/knowledge will find you a nice one soon.

But definatly follow Erich's advise and try to get hold of professional assistance when you don't have a strong knowledge on that topic yourself.

      Cheers

        Tkr

Good advice. Regardless of whether or not it has a certificate from Don Boyle, I'd post it on the forum before buying, and insist on a return policy if you're unhappy. There ARE some fake COA's floating around supposedly. Don Boyle is still the definitive expert, so if there's no certificate and you can afford it, send it to him. If you can't afford it, just post on the forum or PM me. I've studied the TKR for over 20 years and I've learned a lot from Don. I'm confident that I can determine a fake if I have enough photos. You might consider contacting Don and ask him to locate one for you. THAT WAY, it's ALREADY certified. If price is an issue, just get a heavily worn ring. With the fears of the economy, this should be a good time to buy. The inside engraving should still look fairly crisp, and the history is still there. Good luck.

Ask Suzy Orman if you can afford it and be sure to let me know when it will be on. Seriously,If you cannot afford $250.00 for a COA from Mr Boyle BEFORE you buy it. You cannot afford a TK honor ring.

I sure am glad after observing all the drama that I do not have the "Ring Bug."

                  TK Ring

There needn't be any drama. If you purchase a TK ring, make sure it has a Don Boyle COA. THEN.....verify that Don has actually verified that exact ring before buying. If the prospective ring does NOT have his COA, be certain that the seller has a return provision, and they'll give you the time to send it to Don. A COA from ANYONE else will get you nowhere in the event you ever have to sell it (God forbid!!) If you want to screen a ring ahead of time, to weed out any obvious fakes, just post pics on this forum. There are several very knowledgable members who can give you a pretty good idea if it's worth pursuing. Notice that certain rings were criticized here, and turns out Don confirmed our suspicions. Trust me - If Mr. Boyle says it's good, you're good to go.

Condition to me is unimportant to me..especially if the man wore it in combat a lot. I think the only requirements are 1:it must be an original, and 2: what was the mans reord of notariety.
If the man was famous, and earned high awards then all you have to do is have the money, and luck to land the deal. The best deals come right from the vet, but now the vet deals are needles in a haystack, so don boyle is an option only if you have the jack to pounce quickly. Good luck, and follow the advice given here about posting first , but dont divuldge where its at, and someday the dream will become reality.

                          thanks Ju for the advice.
indeed it has been a needle in a haystack and i have been speaking to several forum members who have been very helpful indeed.

at least if i dont get hold of a ring, i know i have earned the friendships from u guys all over.

As for now, my search still continues. please PM me if you have a ring or know if a ring is available.
                          Many thanks.
