T.K. - its just bits and pieces of info I remember from the thread where those photos and shield were posted. Like Dennis said - it could also be Italian Flak or Labor units. Although not photographed, it was definitely worn.

Yes I am But I must say your shield actually looks like it was worn. If you nottice - it has stichings all around it. Sometimes volunteers wold wear the shields in such manner. Here is your patch:
Nottice how these Estonian Luftwaffe volunteers are wearing theirs' - the shields are just slapped on without being folded:

Thanks for reply.
I know the thread you talking about and there's no relation at all about the WSS picture posted and the shield in question; the owner of the group told this forum members that "that was a group" but this is not a source this is an opinion.
"Although not photographed, it was definitely worn" seems like pure speculation to me.
Not even a single picture-info-source of this badge used by Italian SS Division or Italians volunteers in german WSS units is known.
And again: the Italian flag is pretty different from the one represented by this shield...

Hello Askold,
The Karstjaeger Karstdistel tab was confirmed by veterans.
Nothing was even ever said about this shield used by Italian SS volunteers, the italian SS veterans don't even mention it by mistake but they had clearly stated which were theirs insignas.
I think you can see the difference.
This badge can be anything but SS related.
Best Regards
